Lighting control in Germany

Building Robotics plans and supplies networked lighting control for non-residential buildings in Germany – from warehouses and production halls to offices, retail, schools and car parks. Presence and daylight sensors, high-bay sensors for mounting heights up to 22 m and energy monitoring communicate via Bluetooth Mesh, so no new control cabling is required.

In Germany the EPBD is implemented by the Building Modernisation Act (GModG), in force since 29 July 2026. Under Section 56, non-residential buildings whose heating, air-conditioning or combined ventilation system exceeds 70 kW need building automation with monitoring and automatic lighting control by 31 December 2029; zoning and occupancy detection are the standard case. Details (in German): Lichtsteuerung Pflicht.

We are based in Leipzig and work nationwide – with on-site survey, installation and commissioning. Our German location pages cover all 16 federal states and more than 700 cities: Lichtsteuerung in Deutschland.

How a project works

You send us your floor plan or hall layout. We plan the sensors and show you your building as a 3D model in our own software Sensora, including how the light reacts to movement. Every project includes occupancy detection, zoning and monitoring.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you deliver lighting control to Germany?

Yes. We plan projects from your floor plans, show the result in 3D beforehand and supply the sensors. On-site work is arranged project by project.

Is automatic lighting control mandatory in Germany?

The EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (Article 13) requires automatic lighting control with zoning and occupancy detection in non-residential buildings; it becomes binding through national law. We check deadlines and thresholds for your building. Not legal advice.

Can lighting control be retrofitted in existing buildings?

Yes. The sensors communicate via Bluetooth Mesh, so no new control cables are needed – sensors sit on the luminaire or on the ceiling.
